About Prise Fishing

Established in 2023, Prise Fishing is proudly owned and operated by Ian Prise, a lifelong resident of Gimli, Manitoba, who grew up along the west shores of Lake Winnipeg. With deep roots in the area, Ian brings a lifetime of local knowledge and a genuine passion for angling to every guided trip.

Ian’s experience on Lake Winnipeg runs far beyond recreational fishing. He is a former commercial fishing licence holder in the south basin and spent four years working with Manitoba’s Fisheries Branch. This background has provided him with a strong understanding of fish behavior, seasonal patterns, and safe, effective fishing practices, knowledge he’s proud to share with every guest.

At Prise Fishing, the goal is simple: provide a safe, enjoyable, and successful experience on the water. Whether you’re an experienced angler or trying fishing for the first time, Ian is committed to making your trip both productive and memorable. Trips are offered on Lake Winnipeg out of Gimli, Hecla, as well as Muskie trips out of Minaki Ontario, giving guests access to some of the best fishing opportunities in these regions.

When he’s not guiding, Ian can still be found on the water, spending time fishing with friends and family. His passion for aquatic life and sport fishing has taken him all around the world, where he has experienced a variety of cultural fishing techniques across five continents. This global perspective, combined with his local expertise, creates a well-rounded and unique guiding experience.
